The secret life of pets

maxresdefault.jpg

I know I’m technically an adult but I love children’s movies (especially this one). I have a pet dog and it was funny to see what pets could potentially do when owners leave them alone. It’s obviously fictional but sooo funny. Great voices for the characters and music too.

Absolutely adored this story about an independent woman’s struggle with being single and her addiction to the internet.  It brings back so many home truths and makes me think whether life would be more interesting without the internet and questions society’s values about single women past the age of thirty. I bought this book in Paris but it was translated from English so I am sure you can find it in a bookstore near year.

MAKEUP

I absolutely love Sephora’s Kiss Me Balm. The packaging is so cute like an egg. It also smells super delicious as well as moisturising and tinting my lips at the same time.

That’s all for now.  Hope to hear from you soon.

Lots of love,

Charlotte xoxo

Date night: The Great Gatsby Eyes

Dear readers,

Today I will be sharing with you a date night look that was inspired by the Great Gatsby. If you haven’t yet seen the film I definitely recommend that you do because it is absolutely stunning and an absolute tear jerker! Hope you enjoy the look and don’t hesitate to share your own make up tutorials.

So from the girls in the film I saw that the make-up of the 20’s was super-smoky! This was because ‘King Tutankhamun’s tomb was discovered in the early ’20s and the world went crazy for everything Egyptian, including Cleopatra’s famed kohl eyes.’ (< http://thebeautygypsy.com/great-gatsby-makeup/>).

To recreate the ’20s sooty effect, I am using the urban decay naked palette. Here are the easy to follow steps:

1.Apply the colour ‘buck’ to your crease

2.Apply colour ‘naked’ just above the crease for a smooth transition

3.Apply the colour ‘creep’ to the outer v and crease

4.Apply the colour ‘gunmetal’ to the lid

5.Then blend, add mascara and eyeliner

Final look:

So there you have it. Until next time…

Charlotte xoxo

May favourites

Hello everyone, welcome back to my blog!

I can’t believe it’s already June when it’s pouring down with rain in the UK and France! As this is the first day of the month, I have decided to do my May Favourites post. Enjoy!

I’ll start off with cinema!

Me before you

This film was an absolute tear jerker and I do not think I have ever cried so much in my entire life. Definitely recommend this film for those who like romantic films 🙂 I won’t spoil the rest yet as I will be posting a review of this film shortly.

Books:

Adorkable

I took out a few books this month as I had a trip to the French countryside where I would have no internet or TV so reading would be my entertainment. This book took me by surprise because from the cover it looks rather superficial without any important messages; however the truth is very different.

This story is about a boy and a girl who couldn’t be more different (the girl is an outsider and the boy is super popular) yet they fall in love. I think that the message of this book is that you should not judge people by appearances as you may not get to know someone properly if you are so superficial. Also it emphasises the fact that it’s ok to be different as the main protagonist, Jeane, is able to create a community called ‘adorkable’ to help people who feel like outsiders to feel ok with them. I loved this book!

Music:

I discovered this artist on the radio in London and I keep hearing her all the time. She has an absolutely fantastic voice and her lyrics are truly heart felt. Fun fact about her: she is Swedish and only 18!

That’s all for now.  Hope to hear from you soon.

Lots of love,

Charlotte xoxo
